Summer Internship 会計事務所で仕事する。

Summer Internship is not difficult to get. I am quite lucky since an accounting office invited me to work when I attended at workshop in the Uni. The office has lots of Japanese clients. That is why he was interested in me. Japanese people are normally very few in England. So, it is less competitive to get a job. Many people want to go back to Japan because they expect to get a better job than here in England. My flat mates, Estonian girl is still looking for an internship, and a Polish girl left our house since she lost the job because of the end of the  contract. We, Japanese, sometime think getting a job is competitive in working a big company. They are able to get a job working in middle or small size companies. The level of problem is completely different. People I met here concern whether they live on or not.

This week, I worked 2 days in a week. My age is over 30. So, it is shameful that I asked younger colleagues for advice. But I have to do. Yes, it is survival to get a job for me. I should be patient unless my English has been much improved. Now, I threw away my proud. This is the start of my second life. I'll get a survival skills which are English and accounting. They are world standards. I hope they create my future wealth...

インターンシップに行ってきました。仕事は、週に２－３日程度なのですが、給料が入るので、嬉しい限りです。なにせ、しがない学生ですから。。この分野では、まったくビジネス経験がないので、なかなか良いと思っています。感触が良ければ、１－２年ほど経験を積んで、英語の上達と、会計知識をつけて、キャリアに箔をつけたいと思っています。

実は、この会計事務所、日本法人の顧客が８割程度占めています。なので、実は、スタッフも８割日本人です（笑）。そして、かかってくる電話は、英語５割と日本語５割という感じです。スタッフの構成は、日本人の奥様方が数人（英国男性と結婚）、または、大学（院）を卒業して、３－４年経った若者、数人といった感じで構成されています。少々、物足りない気もしますが、個人的には、これで良いと思っています。やっぱり、仕事で英語を使うって難しいです。トップは、イギリス人なのですが、色々と英語で指示されるので、正確に聞き取れず、何度も聞き返せないので、悩みます。会計事務所は、とにかく情報量が膨大で、細かく色々と指定があるので、正確に聞けないとダメなんですよね。そうでないと、整理できなくなってしまうからなんでしょうが。。そこで、日本人がいると、アドバイスもらえるので、大変助かります。やっぱり、留学１年程度では、仕事で使える英語レベルからは、ほど遠い状況です（自分の場合）。

また情報管理も、当然厳しいので、机も仕事中以外は、キレイに片付けます。うん、学生とは、やっぱ違いますね。プロって感じです。今週の作業は、事務作業とマニュアルの暗記が、ほとんどでした。コピーやら、ファイリングやら、なんやら、久々の新人気分でした。最近、怠惰な生活を送っていたので、よい刺激になりました。卒論も、自分の甘えとの戦いですから、ちょうど良かったのかもしれません。今後は、仕事と卒論に日々精進します。
